The Christmas holiday approached quickly for both the residents of Pemberley as well as the those in London. Derbyshire being so much farther north, and of higher elevation, was inundated with snow, forcing the Darcy’s and their neighbors to resort to the use of sleighs in order to make their visits throughout the estate and the neighborhood. Kitty, who was unused to such great amounts of snow, watched the skies with child-like wonder and at her insistence, many sledging parties were held on the hill at the back of the house. Most evenings carolers visited to receive the treats and small bags of coins which Kitty enjoyed handing out along with little gifts for any of the children.

In London, Jane and her friend, Lady Corning, went shopping for last minute gifts where Jane was introduced to an engaging pair of siblings, the Gravelys, and were invited to the theatre. Greyson, being acquainted with Mr. Gravely, invited himself along and joined them for the evening at the theatre. Unknown to him, his nemesis Corabelle Harris attended the theatre that evening as well and made a production of jealousy, hurt and betrayal. It was so well done that it was remarked upon in the papers.
